when i first heard about the male loneliness epidemic i was like oh yeah close camaraderie and bonding between men is often discouraged in favor of competition or, if not discouraged, at least filtered through a lens of individualism that precludes deep connections. and then i learned what people meant by it (men arent getting laid) to which i say skill issue
to all the men out there not getting laid: try less hard to get laid and try more hard to be an enjoyable and relaxing presence
People who self identify as being part of the male loneliness epidemic is a broad stroke? I very much doubt anyone who isn’t chronically online even knows what that is…
By who…? No significant portion of society is making that claim, you are painting with a pretty broad stroke there.
What I see throughout the majority of this thread is people sharing your views. People making generalities against women or leftist and then accusing them of making false generalities.
Anytime someone makes a criticism of a male trait they instantly claim not all men, despite no one claiming that it applied to all men.
Many men come forward about being lonely and they get told exactly the bullshit that’s in the OP. We’re literally commenting on the proof behind what I’m saying and you’re finding some way to try to deny it’s happening.
I wasn’t making generalities against women or left leaning people, if you read the words I actually wrote, instead of the strawman you wanted to attack, you’d see I mentioned there are a lot of attacks against men expressing this issue coming from those other groups. That’s not painting any group anything. It’s saying there’s a breakdown in communication coming from those directions, not saying everyone there is the problem.
Do you not see the issue with calling it a male trait and then immediately trying to backpedal and claim you didn’t mean all men?
No one is critical of men just being lonely… They are critical when lonely men blame everyone else and then use it as an excuse to be assholes.
“Other groups”, “from those directions”… Being really specific there bud.
Not really, by in large the vast majority of violence is committed by males, that does not mean all males are violent. Nuance is a thing…
I’m aware nuance is a thing. It’s often left behind when attacking men for this shit. All men. Not just those who’ve decided to excuse their assholes behavior.
Like “hey people are getting shouted down for voicing a concern about this” and you run in and start shouting them down saying “no they’re not”.
You’ve dismissed their experience, without nuance, and providing a good example of the very behavior you claim is not happening.
Outside of some small groups of radical 2nd gen feminist, it’s exceedingly rare for anyone to make a claim that includes all men.
I think people like yourself just like to conflate any valid criticism of certain groups or behavior of men as “all men”.
If I claimed that the vast majority of alt right extremist groups are made up of men, how would you interpret that?
Disagreeing with someones over generalized claim and explaining exactly why… totally silencing all men.
Lol, pretty sure I’ve gone in depth into exactly why I disagree with their claims. Just because you ignore anything that boo-boos your feelings doesn’t mean I haven’t made an honest attempt to explain my criticism.
