My 2nd build ever and first time building on my own. I was happier than a pig in mud when it power on and posted on the first attempt.
My build (nothing fancy, just for some 1080p gaming):
- AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
- 32 GB G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5
- ASRock AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT
- Gigabyte B650 X AV V2 Motherboard
- CoolMaster Master Liquid 240L Core ARGB
- Cosair RM850e Power Supply (850W, Gold)
- Cosair 3500X Mid Tower Case
- 2TB PNY XLR8 NVMe Gen4 M.2 Drive*
*Edited: Forgot to add the storage.
those parts would make a great Linux gaming build
Thats partially why I went with an all AMD build. I plan on installing Linux on a separate drive in the near future. I only plan on keeping Windows for the few online games that dont enable Linux support
My new PC only has Linux and I’m currently flying on maximum settings in Rocket League, God of War, Horizon: Forbidden West, 1440p, 240 Hz monitor.
I am only keeping Windows around because I have some Rocket League montage clips there I want to keep. Otherwise Windows would not be on my new PC. I just have yet to move that drive over to the new PC.
I also have an all-AMD build. 9950X3D + RX 9070 XT. It just flies. Please look forward to gaming exclusively on Linux! ❤️🎮🐧
- ASRock AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT
I see you bought the 16GB version, good choice.
The only other cards in the price range of the 9060 XT were 8gb 3060s! It made the choice really easy for me - plus I wanted an all AMD build.
Go Team
GreenRed!!I made the switch! My last build was Intel + Nvidia. Now it’s all AMDaaaaayumn
Fuck nVidia
Looks ready for Bazzite !
I have never ran Bazzite. My last build ran Ubuntu (started with 18.04 LTS) and my laptop runs Fedora workstation.
We do all sound like a cult but seriously, give Bazzite a spin, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
I dont see any harm in trying it out. This is literally just my gaming rig. I have a laptop running fedora that i use for coding, finances and the like.
bazzite is fedora based ;)
Well you had my attention, now you have my interest 🧐
How much did this run you OP? I have pretty much the same setup but 3 gens ago
5600xt
Ryzen 5 3600
32g ram
B450 mboard
Cost me ~1000 USD at the time
I had a very similar setup but just upgraded to a 5070 while keeping the rest the same (and overclocking the 3600) and still “bottlenecked” by the GPU the vast majority of the time. But also getting like 60fps native in cyperpunk at max settings 1440p (and well above 144fps with frame gen)
This build cost me just shy of $1300 at Micro Center. You could find parts for cheaper elsewhere and change the storage, cooling, and case for more savings
Is Micro Center not as competitive as it used to be? I have one near me and I’ve always liked it but with the build I’m considering it seems like almost every part is cheaper on Amazon
Micro centre has the advantage of not having to live with the shame of supporting amazon
Unfortunately i dont know. I only recently moved to an area with a Micro Center.
Very cool build! That is such a cool case. If I built with it, it would be so covered with fingerprints though haha
I wore nitrile gloves the entire time i was building and setting it up, but that was mainly because i have overly sweaty hands.
It also helped all of the glass had a protective film too.
Yknow, now i feel weird for not doing this. I already have the gloves too (i use them for cooking, constant handwashing destroys my hands and i like hot peppers)!
It’s one of those things that seems obvious once someone points it out but now ya know for the next time ya do any tinkering!
Ill definitely do so from here out! Need to work on my server and i just got a new (used) laptop i wanna dismantle and do some upgrades on at some point (primary ram slots are not accessible without pulling the whole board, as well as 1 of the 3 M.2 slots).
Oh ya the gloves will be nice when doing a teardown.
It’s nice not having to worry about getting grease or oil on the various connectors!
And not dyeing part of your hand with thermal paste 😜
Speaking of thermal paste! I actually forgot to purchase some thermal paste, but Cool Master included a nice syringe of thermal paste in the box of the 240L.
Box fort builders?
I am not gonna lie… I haven’t heard of it.
I also bought the Challenger 9060 XT recently. It’s really good, surprisingly quiet too compared to my previous GPU that would scream at 2500 rpm.
Ya my 1070Ti was so freaking loud compared to this card. I have checked it a few times to make sure the fans are running 😅
Nice budget build!
The best part is it doesn’t feel like a budget build!
That’s awesome! Enjoy it! ❤️
Thanks, its hard to not just game all day, but I’m forcing myself to do the work around the house before i touch it.
Carrot on a stick, eh. Here are some adult points: 🫴➕➕➕🏅
What company is the sailing ship logo?
I’m just glad they got rid of their tramp stamp logo.
Corsair
It looks so much like the pirate bay logo. I was like “did pirate bay start selling hardware?!”
That would be Cosair. I love their cases! My first build was an itx build (or mini-atx) and it was a little cube.
I am using a Cosair PSU as well since I couldnt get EVGA.
I think Corsair('s RMx OEM) makes one of the best PSUs on the market.
EVGA used SuperFlower for the G2 series and those were tanks — SuperFlower itself is selling some Leadex VII models directly to consumers now too, also a good option.
I had a G2 series EVGA for my last build. Never had any issues in 7 years.
Are they good again? I’ve had a strafe keyboard for years and it’s still going strong but heard their quality kind of went to shit a little while ago
I just moved to an area with a Micro Center so i can’t compare how they used to be.
Damn that’s a seriously beautiful case! How are the thermals?
Okay i just tested playing Halo Infinite at 1080p on ultra settings with the frame limit at 100 fps (monitor max refresh i know weird). The temps stayed around 65° - 70° C while i played. No stuttering, no lag, just pure buttery smoothness
That’s the dream, enjoy the machine brother!
Will do! I think my sleep is going to suffer for the foreseeable future.
My cpu hovers around 40° C. I still need to test it under load, but idle temps are solid.
One of us. One of us. One of us.
It feel soooooo good!

Cool af
Idk man. The PC community is full of shills and assholes if you ask me. Most uptight ego bitches I’ve ever seen with a constant “one up” mentality. It used to be cool back in the 90s and early 2000s when PC builds were about looks and now it’s just “oh you can’t afford a 5090 you must be broke, go back to console you piece of shit”
Yeah lol… Super fun community for sure b
Oh the irony.
Hey, OP. Cool purchase! Hope you have loads of fun building and playing on that awesome rig.
Thanks! My last build was when the Nvidia 10 series and 7th Gen Intel i7s were the latest releases. This build feels like a rocket ship compared to my old rig!
That’s going to be one awesome upgrade that you’re seriously going to feel. Any plans on what to play first to test it out?
I plan on playing Halo Infinite to test it out. I was, what could barely be called, playing on my steam deck previously so I’m interested to see how much better it looks and runs on my new rig.
Do you have cyberpunk?
I do! I haven’t played it yet, but I do own it. I’m wondering how well it’ll play on this build.
It should run very good.
Are you… are you okay man? Who hurt you?
To be fair, I understand his sentiment. I just don’t agree with him painting a broad brush, but I understand his feelings.
I came from reddit man. r/PCgaming is gross
We’re okay here I think. At least better. The less pessimistic and cynical we are, the easier it will be to achieve, at least! ❤️😊 Reddit was cancer in so many ways, not just in “subreddit X, Y, Z”.
when PC builds were about looks and now it’s just “oh you can’t afford a…
Lmao.
Hard disagree. Every community will have some elitists, but overall, my experience in PC gaming communities has been very positive.
Yeah, like, look at all these 100% positive comments on this post. This is beautiful.
Any community has shitheads, pay them no heed.
