All this did is push us to what we should have always been doing, avoiding American products, which honestly are just the worst.
Food in particular, the processed corn syrup shit we import from the US is crap, the local brands are always so much better
my wife does most of the consumable purchases for our home so she has had to do most of the “is this a USA product?” checks and she discovered 2 things:
1 - we were lucky, only 20% or so of our regular purchases needed to change
2 - every substitution to walk away from USA stuff has resulted in a better, more enjoyable and/or higher Yuka rated product
There are things I reach for, then I see it’s American so I put it back, then I realize “I shouldn’t be eating that crap anyways” like pop tarts. It’s made me eat healthier because it made me stop and think about all the stuff I buy that’s exclusively American and it’s usually something unhealthy i want but don’t need.
