It was 1997 for me. 🤣. Then took a 26 year break and return in 2023. Man how it has changed. People complaining today is wild to me.
Poor drug dealers being reduced to cashiers earning tips. And, I’m really not a fan of seeing capitalistic efficiency in my weed. I swear weed has gotten shitty overall.
It’s better if you have the space to grow your own. Gives you a chance to choose the right genetics, and there are many old genetics still knocking about, and if the originals are hard to find there are basic crosses where the breeders have tried to maintain most elements of the originals.
Right now I am growing Blue Dream, with a Super Lemon Haze cross and a modern strain that’s slowly getting colourful. I was sick of not being able to find a really good haze unless I take a trip to Amsterdam (it’s hit or miss here in regards to how I always remember it), so I’m looking forward to this harvest.
Initial upfront costs can seem quite a bit, however with the right techniques you can make that back. Lights are rather efficient these days, and for a personal grow you can get away with 1-200w LEDs.
I know not everyone is able to, but just thought of giving a nod to it. If you can’t right now, I hope you can one day! It’s a real treat if you miss old genetics.
I can’t wait to have the means to do that, and try to get it right. Man, my hydroponics growing attempt like a decade ago was pathetic
