New rule against “certain kinds” of adult content accompanies removal of “incest” games.

I’m getting really tired of payment processors deciding what adults should be able to do with their money.

Same with lazy platforms and advertisers that aren’t even targeting children resulting in dogshit censorship across the internet.

We’re honestly supposed to believe that with the advanced algorithms, metadata matching systems, and audience targeting systems that these fucks use, that they can’t tell with high certainty whether an account is an adult or a child, and allow the appropriate type of ads through? Especially when many of them require accounts that require you provide that information. Get fucked.

I’ve just been ignoring all the inane post in lemmy regarding this.

It’s capitalism working as intended, and none taking Visa&Mastercard{Vanguard accountable.

I’m honestly surprised that the processor shareholders aren’t demanding they process those transactions to increase profits even more.

Because the 3-5¢ they get per transactions may not offset the costs of processing what is in some places illegal.

Maybe they should have a way of determining where someone is from and not process transactions for those regions… Oh wait, that’s a fundamental function of not only what they already do, but also the Steam store itself.

From Vanguard’s perspective: you’re not slavering yourself harder, so why should they support a proven contraceptive?

No please, birth more slaves, fuck people in the wild, rape them, don’t even consent. Vanguard needs more expendable slaves!

Some of those games are fucking disgusting and don’t deserve to exist. I don’t think that’s a credit card company’s place to decide, however.

These policies inevitably end up being weaponized against LGBTQ+ people. Some of the games (like you said) I’m not losing any sleep over because they shouldn’t exist. The main concern is when something like homosexuality is equated with pedophilia. Or furries and beastiality. That kind of bad faith policy making has happened before and is happening now.

I’m an ambiguous degenerate. I’d love those. All the games I’ve seen are made by incels for incels. Just terrible plot and dialogue by the saddest people who’ve never met a woman.

Fuck Visa but I’m 99% sure it’s a law (or a reinterpretation/expansion of an existing law) making them do this, it just doesn’t make sense otherwise.

I had to manually change my Steam settings to exclude adult games. The previews were showing CLOSE-UP hardcore porn games. After flipping through a couple previews, I decided to block. I’m a simple person who likes shmups.

Adult games toggle is disabled by default, which means you must have enabled it at some time in the past.

I wonder if it’s a legacy thing, I have never enabled it and I see them on my store page all the time.

I remember hearing that you could kinda force them to show up on your friends’ store pages by leaving a positive review for them, cuz the steam algorithm weighs recommendations from friends more heavily? But I have no idea if this is actually true.
