    The CFPB accused Navy Federal of charging unauthorized positive overdraft fees, a practice where a transaction is initially approved with sufficient funds, but an overdraft fee is charged later when the transaction settles and the account balance is insufficient. The CFPB alleged this practice took place between 2017 and 2022.
