My experience, I have never received a single alert send to me. Seems broke. On my end. Always have to look at the website.

Because Texas is firmly R. Trump has been deploying ICE in D states as a victory for his base. If Trump deployed ICE in rural R places, then his base would start to feel the effects of what no immigrant workforce looks like. And they’ll get rightfully pissed (more than they already are).

Not really, at least as long as the constitution is worth the paper it’s written on. But uh considering recent rulings, need to evaluate your own risk tolerance because who knows in future.

Is it hosted outside of the US, in a jurisdiction which won’t honor a warrant to search servers?

Yeah that’s about what I was thinking, thanks. I’m going to ponder it but as I’m relatively privileged it might be worth the risk for me to help my community.

      From their site:

      Is this service illegal?

No. Reporting, documenting, photographing, videotaping any law enforcement officer or law enforcement activity in plainly visible public spaces is protected under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. StopICE exists in the interest of free speech, transparency and public reporting. ACLU: You Have The Right to Record Law Enforcement Officers.

The whole reason for this app is that the administration is not abiding the law. So don’t rest your hopes on what is legal.

From courts legitimately interpreting the law? Not at all.

But that’s not a guarantee anymore, and the administration also doesn’t care what the courts say. He also just got gigafunding for his Gestapo.

I’ve been wanting to sign up just in case there are some around me that need assistance with people blocking ice, but I don’t want to give my number and have been thinking of getting a burner.

For those on iPhone and at any risk, ICEBlock app is potentially better, as it maintains more privacy.

The reason they don’t do android:

At ICEBlock, user privacy and security are paramount. Our application is designed to provide as much anonymity as possible without storing any user data or creating accounts. While we understand the desire for an Android version of ICEBlock, achieving this level of anonymity on Android is not feasible due to the inherent requirements of push notification services.
