This would be an absolute fucking disaster for myriad reasons both technical and practical. Any politician who earnestly suggests it as any sort of solution 100% has no idea what they’re talking about and should not be taken seriously.
Yes, politicians talk about trying to do something like that, but the reality is that it would destroy security for businesses, institutions, and even the government itself. Encryption and VPNs are crucial to just about any modern business of even moderate size.

My take is: If they don’t trust me, wtf am I even doing at a such a fucked up place? Then find a better place to work.

Glad I work at a place that wouldn’t give a fuck as long as I’m getting shit done. This sort of bullshit undermines how people feel about work and likely harms productivity more than it helps (as is tradition with micromanaging people instead of setting them up for success and giving them the space they need to do their job).
Also, people who actually are slacking will find so many ways around this anyhow that it won’t actually matter to them because they already don’t care and are probably smart enough to get around it.
If you aren’t buckled up, you are a threat to everyone inside the car because you’re going to get thrown around and injure everyone. I have kicked people out of my car for this before. I do agree that the NFA is nonsense though.
Buckle the fuck up everyone! Wear helmets! Both have saved my life.

Those also companies use VPNs when they transmit, bring burner devices, and take other countermeasures to try protect their data from theft.
Additionally, there are plenty of people who are citizens there and still get around their firewall.
Actually getting rid of encryption or making it ineffective would be a disaster: IP theft, identity theft, and all sorts of other problems would greatly intensify without it.
