This is likely my favorite album ever. Embrace is a short-lived Ian McKaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi) project. This band is part of the 1985 “revolution summer” to push the D.C. hardcore scene to be less violent and more introspective.

Awhile back I made a playlist which follows the development of “emo” music through the years by sampling 1 or 2 songs per year. I started with Rites of Spring in 85 and went from there. It’s wild the amount of influence MacKaye has had in this space.
