The Democratic leadership will wait until Mamdani has been deported, or is about to, then make a feeble protest that does nothing, then say “See, we tried but there was nothing we could do, so Cuomo has to be the candidate after all.” They will see this as an opportunity to have the Republicans do their dirty work for them.
