My song was ‘If you think I’m sexy’ by Rod Stewart. Funk and soul was pretty common as well as some disco. I remember hearing ‘Ring my bell’ by Anita Ward, ‘You sexy thing’ by Hot Chocolate, ‘Twist and Shout’ by The Beatles and ‘She’s a lady’ by Tom Jones a lot.
I’ve never really understood any kind of dancing (last time I tried was at my brother’s wedding around a decade ago), but it never occurred to me that a stripper would have a particular one. I figured they would just go with what came on.
Dave Barry, in one column, said that if a cop pulled someone over while they were listening to “Twist and Shout,” they should not only have to forgive the ticket but also dance along. I’ve never been to a strip club, but if I heard that song while at one I would probably just find it distracting thinking of that.

I don’t think it was anyone’s song it was more just background noise. The Beatles were still kinda popular/relevant back then so that’s probably why they played it.

I’ve sometimes wondered what life looks like for people after they get out of the industry and get older. Did your past career affect your future jobs? Was it something you told romantic partners? Did you ever tell family members, at the time or later? Were you ever worried about people finding out about your career? Sometimes you hear about all these people doing online work like Only Fans or similar, and while some are making lots of money, many presumably aren’t, and it leaves me wondering if in the future the ones who didn’t make it will feel like it was worth the effort.

Not when I was young. When you could just hide such information by not telling anyone. I suppose now-a-days it would get in your way if you wanted to be a teacher or a nun.

When I was a stripper I confessed to my sister when she asked me what my career was. She was understanding and my brother found out later. Neither of them seem to mind and now we both think it’s funny.

Not really. It wouldn’t be ideal with impolite company but when it’s friends and mutuals then I’m fine with it.

For me it was more of a personal thing. I had known about the place for a little before hand and became obsessed with the lovely dancers there. Thank god they didn’t have HR I would have been in so much trouble. One in particular I couldn’t get enough of. I still think about her all these years later. She was such a sweetheart.

Why did you stop?
Non of the other girls were interested in me. At first it was nice being just being around such nice girls but over time it became torture. Imagine being a starving dog and being surrounded by tasty sausages you can’t eat. There was that but also it was only supposed to be a temporary thing to begin with.

Not really. If there was any change in the industry I wouldn’t know about it.

No. I’m too old for all that stuff. Also there’s a big difference between stripping and doing OF. Stripping can be temporary while OF is forever and also there’s a lot more competition on OF and the things you do on OF are way more different.
