Oof… that hits close to home…
I was that parent for my daughter’s first year of school…. I’m not proud of it, but I realized we could make learning fun if we changed the habits and stopped taking it so fucking seriously…!
Not an easy line to straddle. Sometimes you really do have to just throw the homework on the fire and take the car downtown, so to speak.

Got my social anxiety misdiagnosed as a language deficiency around kindergarten. Got gaslighted into thinking I was slower then everyone else and I would only be a burden. Got to high school and realized something was wrong and tried to fix myself and got a whole lot versions of “you don’t need to better yourself. it might make you depressed.” A decade and a half of free, compulsory education wasted.
I called my old high school the other day asking for a document that said I never actually graduated because I never fulfilled the basic, state mandated requirements. They refused, but slipped up and said that I actually tested advanced proficient for science. Something they lied about when I was there.
Replace “love” with “hate”, and you have my parents.
