Do you know the difference between lamb, mutton, and hogget? If so, can you get the latter two labeled as such?

    I’m not confident: lamb is young sheep meat*, mutton is older sheep meat, and I don’t think I’ve seen the word ‘hogget’ in my life.

    * and, of course, a young sheep in general.

    My understanding is lamb is under a year old. I’ve honestly never heard of hogget, and I don’t think I’ve ever actually had mutton.

    mutton is the name of meat from sheep older than hogget

    Aren’t there legal restrictions on naming meat?
