Can any of you weed smokers explain why you like weeds to me?

Am social smoker but weed has always tasted like shit to me

Work in an environment where the default hangout is my basement so naturally have to partake

“Wow I could have just had a drink” is usually my first thought after every hangout

“How do people get addicted to this shit” is usually my second thought

Have tried many, did not like a single one

lol you’re just smoking glorified oregano

    Suggest some to me

Smoking is far from the only way to consume cannabis. Edibles and of course boofing are both better methods.

That being said to answer your question I find cannabis to be actually beneficial and unlike alcohol doesn’t kill my father.

Yeah, alcohol killed my dad and plagued my grandparents their whole lives. I drink a few times a year at most, and when I do, I buy in small amounts. Plus I can quit weed cold turkey any time I want. I take a 1-2 day sabbatical from cannabis at least once every 2 weeks. No hangovers, no liver damage, no crippling addiction, and way cheaper as long as you don’t smoke all day, every day. Most of the time I use edibles, so no damage to the lungs either.

I think the effects of weed last way longer than 2 days: if I smoke it I find I’m more relaxed for the next two weeks.

I refuse to believe anyone likes the taste of alcohol. It tastes like poison…because it is.

I used to drink socially but mostly quit after the pandemic. My friend had a problem but once I got clean I “quit” out of solidarity and realized how much I disliked it. Now I drink once every month maybe and only a few beers at a time

Personally, it’s not the alcohol, it’s their fermented flavors. Not a fan of distilled spirits that much, but I homebrew. (shout out /c/[email protected] ) it’s also a way to take cheap or leftover produce and make fermented stuff. Preserves well, too.

Yeah, I’m not arguing that. I enjoy the taste of a lot of beers and some wine…but like you said, it ain’t the alcohol.

And like the other commenter said, it can be great as a cooking ingredient when the actual alcohol is burned off

Yes! I find dark beers do well in chocolate baking and in heavy stews. Same with dark wines. I’ve heard that lighter and ambers work in cheese soups. And white wine is basically a light acidifiee for anything.

“Refusing” to believe other people can like things just because you don’t is pretty dumb, tbh. Get over yourself. You’re not the arbiter of everything.

And fwiw, the reverse is also true, and anyone that keeps telling you that you just “haven’t tried the right one” can go kick bricks. You’re allowed to not like things, too.

        MMMMM EVERCLEAR SO YUMMY

Yeah right. The good tasting stuff is all the other shit in the mix, not the ethanol.

Not to mention, bars are often too loud to really have a conversation. I’d rather be the non-stoner at a stoner event than the non-drinker at a bar.

Alcoholics don’t necessarily like the taste of alcohol, its just a readily available and socially acceptable way to escape from reality.

I used alcohol as a crutch for a few years after a close relative died. I still thought about my issues but I didn’t care as much. Made me numb. Sober hurt, drunk didn’t. It was an emotional painkiller. (Finally stopped when I started doing math to figure out how to making drinking sustainable with my paycheck and realizing that was NOT a good train of thought.)

Not technically an alcoholic but I do what I can. It’s easy: you drink, you like the feeling, you learn to associate the taste with the feeling, you start to like the taste. Like coffee.

I tasted $500 whiskey. It tasted like $40 whiskey. Maybe it’s just me because everyone else kept saying how nice it was, but I can’t tell the difference. It all tastes like nail polish remover.

I like the taste but I also like flavors that no one seems to (notably bitter and astringent flavors. For example, I like my dark chocolate to be at least 75% cacao and usually drink liquor neat).

With whiskey and other aged liquors (dark tequila and dark rum), there are flavors behind the astringency that can vary based on cask wood, mash (in the case of whiskey), anything that was infused into it, and brand.

You can taste these flavors better by mixing a splash of water (preferably distilled water, to avoid adding any flavors from minerals in the water) into it

Honestly, as someone who likes whiskey, it really doesn’t improve much after $60. Really expensive whiskey is good, don’t get me wrong, but only marginally better than a $60 bottle, so never really worth the price tbh.

    Not an alcoholic but

I like the taste of alcohol

I drink at home to relax, bars suck, and I don’t want to get shitfaced anyway

Weed makes me paranoid and useless apart from going comatose and staring at the ceiling for 4 hours

It’s easy to acquire, relatively cheap, and makes you forget about all the other bad shit that might be going on in your life

Stop trying to enjoy Bud or Coors and go for local craft stuff

Thing is, I like the taste of Alcohol, but I no longer like how it makes me feel.

Tipsy is fun, but rapidly degenerates into a headache.

Weed doesn’t make me feel shit. But it just puts my wife to sleep.

Alcohol for her is like weed for me, except weed isn’t legal here without a medical prescription, and alcohol is ubiquitous with social situations.

I’m autistic with ADHD, so sober social situations are already hard. It gets worse when others are drinking as they get loud and incoherent.

I just wish being stoned was as acceptable, socially.

Booze I like when limited to a single drink (2 pints in the case of Guiness) A lot of cold crisp largers on a hot day after yard work. Guinness (acquired taste, that once gained never fades) Baileys Bailey’s + vanilla vodka Espresso martini when made fresh and strong. (2 shots fresh espresso, 2 shots kaluha, 1.5 shots 100 proof vodka)
