This is an area of fandom I know that I am out of touch with (apologies [email protected]). However, I am glad to see that things like this are managing to find an audience outside Japan. For example, there was a good while where I thought Hatsune Miku was just a character that was created for anime figures and that was it.

Hatsune Miku is closer to a musical instrument in that many different musicians use her voice in many different kinds of songs.
Saying you are a fan of Miku (on a musical level) is roughly like saying you’re a fan of Trumpets.
