    This abstract photo, captured inside a lighthouse with a small 35mm-format mirrorless camera and a 50mm lens, is mostly a visual pun on the concept of a lighthouse, as well as a study in diagonal and radiating lines.

    It was very tight quarters, especially with the tripod. But a tripod was essential here (less for sharpness - at 1/3000 sec - than for precise composition and framing).

      @[email protected] So having the pattern hit the edge of the frame in the bottom left was a deliberate choice. It messes with my OCD but creates more tension I think? Gives your eye something to do and makes the composition more “real”, less tidily abstract.

      I’d love to know your thinking behind it.

        @[email protected] It’s not quite as principled as that, I’m afraid. As I recall, the shadow wasn’t fully cast on the floor, with the corner distorted by the wall. So I just found a framing that worked around that.
