The formerly dead [email protected] is currently being used to push out the [email protected] community. Basically all added content is just reposts of content that’s being posted in the ml community. To me this seems very much like harassment.

Are such hostile communities welcome on sopuli?

Maybe a bit impolite to repost stuff (in general, not just on lemmy), but that’s how internet seems to work today. Any platform which gives option to monetize the popularity will receive a ton of accounts which just blatantly steal content from the internet, fill it with ads or product placement and spam the hell out of it.

Meanwhile [email protected] has on average a single post per day. And I’m pretty sure that both of those communties are mostly reposts from somewhere else.

Yeah, the crows community is low traffic, that makes it even worse imo. Most stuff is being posted by its mod, with almost all original crow content. He has been doing so since summer 23. The sopuli one has been completely dead up until two weeks ago when they started the reposting.

If it’s original content then there’s an option to request removal of those posts based on copyright. I at least hope that users in Lemmy are civilized enough to respect that.

But creating (or reviving in this case) another community for same niche is still not harrasment nor hostile. If the mods of both communities think that they’re competing with eachother they are free to arrange things differently (splitting already small userbase is not beneficial for either). However it’s not something I think any instance mod should interfere with and this kind of metadiscussion should be in those communities, not in general meta.

          Thanks for your civil remarks.

I am not sure what the mod of crows thinks of it, i can only assume that he’d think what they do is lame as hell, i have a hard time seeing it any other way. But kudos to him for not even taking the bait and just keeping on doing his thing, unlike me 😆

I am not against the corvids community, if it was an organic community of people interested in crows i’d be all for it, but like i said in the other reply, right now i can only perceive it as a fediverse politics community, not a crows community.
