I hate that you’re right.
I hate that you’re right.
Russia has some odd game theory incentives because their nukes probably haven’t been well maintained. Now, the rest of the world has to assume they work. The consequences of being wrong about that are too great. However, if Russia actually launched a nuke and it fizzles, that’s a pretty good indication that their nukes don’t work in general. It’s therefore in Russia’s best interest to keep pretending that it will launch a nuke, but never do it because that would remove all doubt.
And then they’re fucked. With the nuclear taboo broken–fizzle or not–nobody will complain when NATO gets directly involved in conventional ways.
Married into a Scandinavian family. Scandinavian baked goods are amazing.
WinRAR did make piles of money by focusing on the commercial market. They really didn’t care if home users went past the free trial period, but they did care if you were a business.
I don’t know what WinAmp does, or ever did.
It’s more likely to survive the company if it’s FOSS. The app was dormant for a long time.
The problem with AI isn’t the tech itself. It’s what capitalism is doing with it. Alongside what you say, using AI to achieve fully automated luxury gay space communism would be wonderful.
Thanks, Sam Harris.
I read “The Moral Landscape”. 90% of it is pretty good, but he’ll randomly drop “and that’s why we need to be worried about Islamic takeover of western Europe” into something completely unrelated. He spends a lot more time complaining about Islamic fundamentalist than he does the Christian fundamentalist who actually have political power in the US (and to a lesser degree, western Europe). Then you get to a chapter that’s all about religious influence on society, but it’s all about relatively relaxed Christians who have Ph.Ds in some field and show up at scientific conferences.
You might expect a word somewhere about the fundamentalist Christians who control roughly half of Congress, but no. It’s all Muslims and Christians who make it a more personal thing.
That shit isn’t worth $10.
Have you tried sprinkling a random reference to “sky fairy” in your post? Teenage atheists think they’re clever every time they hit that one.
Nope, we won’t. I say that because my claim is specifically that the EC is not the only thing going on. If the EC breaks with the popular vote next month, it still won’t be the only thing going on.
Their eggs are a rich snack for fish. The reason they’re a rich snack is because their mom sucked blood.
That said, we can probably kill off the one species that causes malaria. Other species will move into the gap.
There’s one specific species that causes malaria. Getting rid of that particular one would probably do more good than harm. Their place on the food chain can be filled in by others.
What if he doesn’t try to teach you about 40k?
I could see them being defended as the most moral faction.
Great. Not what’s going on right now.
The Samsung Galaxy is 15 years old, and it was excellent. First Android device I felt had decent performance. I think my first one was an Galaxy S III, which would have been 2012.
The Zenphone that’s out now uses a Snapdragon. There’s probably a good reason for that.
If you go by the polls, the two candidates are within margin of error of each other, or very close. We’re looking at a possibility that Trump would not only win the EC, but the overall popular vote, as well.
The EC is not the only issue at play. Millions of Americans either like Trump or are willing to handwave his behavior away rather than vote for a Democrat.
For space efficiency, yes. Bikes are actually better than walking for CO2 output. Your food has a CO2 cost, and bikes are really damn efficient at turning your food calories into forward momentum. Ebikes are even better on a per mile basis, but their higher manufacturing cost mean they never catch up to lifetime CO2 output of a regular bike. Still, whatever gets more people on bikes is a win in my book, ebike or otherwise.
If you love that, NASA has a whole 100 page PDF about fasteners:
https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/19900009424/downloads/19900009424.pdf
One particularly notable part is about split lock washers. They’re useless, often detrimental, and need to go away. NASA said so in 1990 and there’s no reason to think this has changed.
For most people, yes.
For my best friend, no. The reason is that he and his wife really wanted a kid, and they got everything together and had one. He is the happiest new father I’ve ever seen.
My wife and I don’t want kids, and have taken permanent action to make sure we don’t. In part, this is because we understand the responsibility that would be carried for years. We have other things we want to do with our lives. So for someone else to have full knowledge of that responsibility and embrace it gets respect from me.
