I think what bluesky has over it is you don’t have to choose a server

That’s part of it. But even getting over that, if I make a Mastadon account on a themed instance I don’t even know how to find people more diverse types of people to follow. At least in Bluesky they’re all in one place. And most importantly to me you can share custom feeds on Bluesky.

Bluesky is just kicking the problem down the road for a few years.

Remote communities don’t federate until a user subscribed to them. There is this tool to automate it however.

When you create a new community, it will only be available to your instance. To make it accessible to other instances, at least one user from each remote instance must follow it.

This tool automates this process by following your community from all remote instances until it gains at least one real-user follower.

May not work in this specific use case, but with generic text forms I believe the corner is just draggable. Not at my PC atm to check.
