Yeah what I mean is for me it doesn’t really matter, I am not going to break a bottle, and even if I accidentally did (not really sure how at the beach in soft sand) I would clean up the glass pieces. Broken bottles at the beach are left by assholes, not by accident.

  • With a system like .beat (or internet time as it was also called), there are no timezones and there is no daylight savings time.

If we would use a system like that, I’m pretty sure stores in Barcelona would open at a different time than stores in Amsterdam, because the sunrise at different moments. Now we have the same timezone, because it works wel for trade, not because its the best local time.

Using the exact same time globally could fix that. We use the same time for meetings with people abroad but choose the time that fits when the sun rises

  • I don’t know about your city, but getting towed away can cost you between 150 and 500 (diffent in every city) plus the fine (parking on a tram lane) 120 plus about 25 for every night your car is not picked up. So people avoid that.

When I just got my drivers license I came home one night and found a free parking spot, felt like the last one. When I needed my car about a week later it was gone. Went to the police to report it as stolen, turned out it was towed. I accidentally parked on a reseved spot that you are not allowed to park in. Pretty dumb but it was an honest mistake. The fine was about twice what I earned a month from my partime job as a student. It really sucked, but it was a good lesson.

  • We got the second kid when the first one was almost 4. It was pretty rough, we where just getting back our sleep, and went in 2+ years of irregular sleep. She is 2 and a half now and thankfully sleep is getting much better.

If you have a kid and thinking about a second one, I would recommend don’t wait 3+ years, or wait 5+ years so you have a bit of time to recover.

  • I once saw a post from an American guy visiting family in Germany. They borrowed him a car so he could visit other family about 400KM away.

The family that owned the car spend an entire day getting it checked out by a mechanic, making sure all the fluids where fine, getting the tire pressure just right, etc.

He thought it was pretty funny because he drove double that distance every week just to go to work.
