    So he announced the tariffs, got push back, postponed them, then enacted the tariffs again, got even more push back, and is now suspending them again for 30 days?

      By repeatedly threatening and relinquishing the tariffs, he creates uncertainty in the international market and forces businesses to end trade “voluntarily” for fear of these sudden and unpredictable price spikes.

      He can claim The Free Market is doing the work for him without taking any actual heat for enforcing a policy long term. He can also periodically extort business interests and rack in money on insider trading by imposing or lifting sanctions at the demand of big market players.

      Businesses have to treat this like there are tariffs bit consumers aren’t getting hot with the prices.

      He’s trying to use the uncertainty to drive businesses south.

      The threat of tariffs is the same as the tariffs, and a pause is not removing them.
