    If it wasn’t ChatGPT, it would be a Google search or a book. Information is dangerous and they want to keep it away from us.

      ChatGPT isn’t “information”, and they definitely don’t want to keep us away from it. They want us to give our critical thinking over to tech-bro fascist controlled bots.

        ChatGPT can provide information, and they want to censor it to the point where it can’t provide certain information, which means it won’t work for adjacent questions.

        Yeah, we don’t want folks blowing up cybertrucks (or do we…) but if I’m interested in learning about fuel or fireworks, suddenly I’ll have to google that for myself. It has so much potential to help people, but the more they neuter it, the less useful it is even for mundane uses.

        Incidentally, I’d say critical thinking is a key skill for using AI. You have to be able to discern for yourself when the answer is bullshit. Of course you can use it without that skill, but the results are going to be much sketchier.
