Honestly, I think I’ve hit my fuck-it point.

Whats the point of trying to stay informed, be aware of the world and make change anymore? The loudest idiot wins, facts dont matter, lives dont matter, right and wrong doesnt matter.

I think I’m done. I might play a game I dont really own in a house I can barely afford and just try to enjoy myself because taking all this shit seriously is gonna give me a fuckin aneurysm… I’m tired boss.

Honestly, if you’re in the US, best you can do is focus on your local community. Help out your neighbours, find like-minded people, stay active on the local level. There is almost 0 possibility for a normal person to make a difference on the national level, but you absolutely can on the local level.

I’m going to coast on my privilege of being a white male for a year and a half, then I will be back for the mid-terms. If America doesn’t care, fuck 'em. I need a break.

It’s a difficult time, and I am also struggling with issues around feeling defeated. However, a friend shared something with me that’s really been helping. It’s a lovely passage from a write up about hope, written during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire article is well worth the read, but I’ll quote the particular passage below: https://lawliberty.org/j-r-r-tolkien-and-the-necessity-of-hope/#:~:text=After Gandalf and Pippin arrive, rightly anticipating what may be.

“After Gandalf and Pippin arrive in Minas Tirith, Beregond, one of the men of Gondor, explains, “Hope and memory shall live still in some hidden valley where the grass is green.” Hope may thus be drawn from what has been, as a means of rightly anticipating what may be.”

Can’t speak for everyone. For me it’s cause there are kids out there who didn’t ask to be born into this and who will suffer greatly because of it. I can’t abandon hope if it means stepping aside and letting the world do whatever they want to them.

That just makes the disparity worse and skews it more in their direction. In the states that are marginally red having democrats move THERE could actually help turn it blue. Just giving up or moving away is playing into their hands

After these past 9 years what we have seen repeatedly, is that we’re up against dozens of millions of people who wouldn’t piss on you to put out a fire. This election showed us it’s not just right wingers who are without empathy, but also fake leftists who couldn’t be bothered to vote against trump.

I wish I was one of the people who could leave the US. We have nothing left to be hopeful about here. Everything we’ve been worried about will go more poorly than even the most pessimistic viewpoint predicts. We’re done.

I been at this shit since 2007.

Take your disparity and shove it. This country is a wasteland of ignorant dipshits and it deserves whatever it gets. I voted for the good guys every, single, time. I gave them every single opportunity. Fuck us, is all we ever get.

Fuck them. I’m making my plans for anywhere not controlled by that orange piece of human garbage and not fought back by the spineless Israel-serving wimps in the Democrat shithouse. I’ll settle for an ungoverned Pacific island.

Edit: from now on, all of humanity is trash. You, me. Everyone. Fuck us. We get exactly what we deserve. Apocalypse in 40 years? We deserve it. Congrats, everyone! 🎉 See you on the great filter.

Thank you for sharing this one. I had been watching the Boondocks a bit the last couple weeks again. It really highlights sometimes people are just stupid for no good reason.

But I’ve taken the last 24 hours to come to a similar conclusion as in the picture. I’m just going to keep being the best me I can, despite what may come. I will try to support my loved ones the best I can. I will still try to seek the truth. I will still help where I can. People have made it through some terrible times in history, and time may have come for another, but the only option is to move forward as much as we can, where we can.

There’s nothing you can do - you do what you can. Got it, just do nothing?

I know this is a joke, but I think the real point is anti-dooming. Your mind feels like there’s nothing you can do, but it’s hyperbole. There’s always something that can be done, and even just brainstorming what those things are in a hard time can help lift your mood. And it’ll help even more if you actually end up doing them!
