I ended up in a relationship with my childhood best friend. It fell apart. She died 3 years later from cancer. Our kid has been through the wringer.

If it’s like literally Jan 1 2000 you could go take out Roger Stone and pals. Stop the fake outrage about the election recount. Gore wins Florida. Lots of bad shit the Neocons kicked off never happens.
Alternate history is messy. Look at all the speculative stories of how time travelers going back to get Hitler end up making a worse future for various reasons. Hitler is likely to have protection by the time police from time traveling “heroes” because so many think this is an easy fix.
If I could bring back a few books worth of printed paper (in sleeves to keep them safe with a ton of different notes and a bunch of code written down, you bet I’d go back so that way I could alter the history of the internet.
