“Dear Jonas,” the president wrote to Norway’s prime minister, Jonas Gahr Støre. “Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT.”
The proof is that the entire upper tier of the Executive Branch has completely lost its shit and is crewed by morons. Last time around there were adults in the room that reeled in his worst impulses even though he’d sneak a gainer in once in a while. This time? They’re a clown car stuffed with ideologues, racists, and fools with the brake pedal ripped out.
Lol, that letter reads like something a third grader wrote.
“Dear Santa, since you decided not to give me a Nintendo for Christmas, I no longer feel like I need to clean my room and not say bad words. I have done more chores than any other person…”
Next he will demand an Academy Award for Melatonin’s piece of shit movie.
This is a perfect analogy and I will be sharing it to friends and selective family…
I think that’s literally the plot of the 2020 movie “Fatman”
Really? This is what does it.
Not all his other deranged bullshit – this?
Fine, I’ll take it, but you’d better be fucking serious, US, or your own credibility is gone.
Do something about it! Now!
The emperor is naked.
And it’s not a pretty sight!
Trump has only killed one infant, and thrown it in a lake. He’s only human, Norway, sheesh.
Remember that your 2nd amendment exists to make the people able to overthrow their government and not only to shoot gay people
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!?!?! I am not surprised by Krasnov and he continues to be a complete POS.
Someone in my family that’s defended trump tooth and nail since the first term on everythinghas done just told me they oppose what he’s doing to Greenland, and the flood of ICE agents in Minneapolis.
I have never heard them speak a word against Trump. Not ever. And they have argued the craziest shit I’ve ever heard… Like, they think Renee was ‘asking for what she got’ levels of crazy, and that’s after they watched all the videos.
…and they just told me they are now against Trump on these two huge events. This is nuts. I need to go but a lottery ticket or something.
That is wild. I wonder why Greenland would be the tipping point?
Usually conservatives practically swoon at the notion of invading and occupying things, despite all their talk about “America first”, it’s usually really Israel first, Americans dead last, and when it’s time to bomb/invade something, they are balls-deep on the cheer-leading.
Not enough challenge. We “liberate” “armed” countries from their “oppressors” and go into the very bad places and make things “better”
We’re now raiding Sunny Side Daycare. There’s no fairytale there.
As someone with experience with people who are in the MAGA reality bubble, this is because there is no in-canon explanation of Trump’s actions (yet, the story writers patch these up pretty quick). There was no setup for this, no laying the misinformation groundwork and no existing goal that this advances.
Since Greenland wasn’t part of the story, it just came out of nowhere. Lacking any in-MAGA explaination, they are examining this situation as a normal person who knows normal facts and this is completely an unforced error by any measure as anyone can see.
If this was something that was serious and planned then we would have started hearing about this months ago as they started preparing the lies and the misinformation seeding into social media via paid/artificial content creators or otherwise useful idiots. This is probably the strongest indication that Greenland is a distraction and not a real move. This is probably the case with Canada too, in my opinion.
They would rather people talk about anything but the Epstein files and how they are very clearly covering them up and not complying with the law. They don’t want reporters to have time to report on all of the people that he has pardoned who also have made $2-5 million dollar donations to various MAGA PACs, some of them committing even more crimes and getting another pardon…
They need to throw things into the air to distract people. Some of their planned events are polling negative (the Minnesota Invasion, Healthcare Subsidies) and they don’t have anything else so instead we get more random tariffs and more random military threats because they are something that the Executive Branch can do unilaterally and suddenly to ensure that they grab the next news cycle.
This is the “Flood the Zone” tactic that Steve Bannon said that they were using during the first admin.

He did start babbling about it early in his second failed term. And I did see attempts to sanewash this talk about Greenland in places like The Atlantic, for example.
But yeah, the messaging on this has been extremely scattershot.
Because Greenland is full of white people. If it were full of brown people, especially if they immigrate to the US frequently enough and “steal our jobs”, we might be hearing a different tune.
The population of Greenland is nearly 90% Inuit, you wouldn’t normally class them as “white”.
Shhh….don’t tell the republicans that.
Conservatives seem to oscillate between isolationism and aggressive intervention. They’re both from the stance of American primacy, either using our military for our benefit and to enforce our wishes or saying the world has nothing to offer us we need and that we’re better off not extending effort or energy on the rest of the world.
Currently our conservatives are swinging towards isolationism, which is why the anti immigration rhetoric and pulling out of international organizations was very popular. That’s not compatible with a plan to forcibly annex another country.
Besides the letter, what’s the 2nd huge event?
“I don’t see how you can be a serious person and not find this extremely worrisome,” wrote Sen. Brian SchatSchatz (D-HI) in a social media post on X Monday. “He is not stable at all and his reality is warped. He was always a bit like this of course but now he’s [79].”
As the oldest sitting U.S. president in history, Trump has increasingly shown signs of aging, both physically and mentally, multiple outlets have reported. And, with his recent letter – the authenticity of which was questioned by critics due to its “jaw-dropping” content and “unhinged crazy talk” – speculation as to the president’s mental well-being only grew louder.
This is fucked up journalism inside the fucked up story that is super fucked up. Look at this - in the first quote they replace whatever word he used with [79]. Why? Presumably the original word was “old” and they wanted to reinforce the 79 as that has become shorthand for dementia, since the press has decided they can’t say anything due to their billionaire owners telling them they can’t say anything about it.
But what if it was “super fucked up”? That’d have been a way better quote.
And the constant referring to Xitter is awful, and the “shows signs of [decline] multiple outlets have reported” as if they’re not allowed to say it, as if it’s not as obvious as the nose on one’s face. They won’t take the burden of saying it, they’ll refer you to other corporate propaganda rags that have meekly implied it for them.
SAD!

Am I missing something? If you actually click the link to the tweet you’d have seen that Brian Schatz said, and I quote directly:

“I don’t see how you can be a serious person and not find this extremely worrisome. He is not stable at all and his reality is warped. He was always a bit like this of course but now he’s 80.”.
There is no replacement of the word “old” or anything like that, at the very least it was a minor correction from 80 y/o to Trumps actual age of 79 y/o.
And even if that is the case, replacing “old” with “79” or “80” would have been way more damning in my opinion. Maybe I’m too young for this shit but “old” for me is 55+. Not fucking retirement age, AKA 67+ where I live, let alone 79 or 80 years old.
I truly don’t know what to make of this comment. Yeah trump is a shithead and I truly am sad that he still isn’t 6 feet deep, but what are you trying to achieve with this comment? It just seems like ragebait aimed at journalist or something, I really, truly, don’t know.
EDIT: made a couple of small edits to make my points more clear. Don’t know if lemmy lets you see the first version of a post but if it does feel free to compare. As of this edit I still stand by my point
Journalists are scared pansies. What a joke of a field. If you’re a journalist, you should be ashamed and ridiculed. In a time where so many people wish they could do more to stop fascism or stand against it, the people that have power would rather suck boots and protect pedos.
Journalists have power. They refuse to use that cuz they need to make money. Money before truth.
Hey now. 128 journalists were killed and 503 detained in 2025. There are journalists out there risking their lives to deliver the truth. They’re just getting rarer because fascists keep murdering them.
Money before truth.
Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.
dude is so pissed about not getting a peace prize hes going to war with the planet… as if to demonstrate why he would never, ever be deserving of such a prize.
its hard to really wrap your brain around how stupid a human you would have to be to write that letter… and who is worse the clearly mentally deficient president, or the circle of sycophants enabling this bullshit?
I mean, it fits entirely however for anyone paying attention.
He hated New York high society because New York high society snubbed him and wouldn’t let him in their club, because he’s a classless ass.
He hated the US neoliberal democratic order because they snubbed him and wouldn’t let him in their club, because he doesn’t actually know what the fuck is he doing and doesn’t care about democracy.
He vows to destroy any group or idea that would reject him. He views it as a personal affront and never feels like maybe he should be a better person.
No, his solution is to destroy everything in his path, which is why he is also tearing apart NATO because he was snubbed by other democratic world leaders. He is such a giant fucking pussy baby bitch who can’t handle rejection at all.
He doesn’t even care about ruling over the ashes, he just wants to see it all fall and neither understands nor cares to understand how any of it might impact him in the long run because he’ll be dead before consequences come knocking.
The fact that a third of the country are exactly the same really exposes how deep the USA’s problems with mental health go.
I genuinely think there’s a chance that everyone is completely missing his motivation here.
Trump turns 80 on 14th June 2026. He wants someone, be it Denmark or the US Army, to give him a country for his birthday.
What better gift is there?
The fact that a third of the country are exactly the same really exposes how deep the USA’s problems with mental health go.
This last part is the scary part. Normal humans see Grandpa Klan Robe here raging out and calling for “retribution” and think - someone should take the keys away.
Dumbass conservative apes with broken brains look at that and cheer him on and want to vote for him even harder. 1984 was all too prescient, but that’s because he was looking at quite recent events - “We’ve always been at war with [Greenland|Venezuela|Canada|Mexico]!”
I’m shocked that no one has burned the pedo-lago club for furries down yet
Wait what? Don’t bring furries into this. What’d they do to you? (Other than dance in front of ICE.)
nothing?
I personally don’t care what people do in their spare time. I was making reference to donalds furry party he just had
https://people.com/mar-a-lago-gala-dog-masks-rococo-gowns-11886133
Why you do the furries dirty like that?
They’re just autistic and deeply perverted. Not criminals
never said they were. was making reference to donalds furry party at his pedo Hotel golf course thing
https://people.com/mar-a-lago-gala-dog-masks-rococo-gowns-11886133
He hated the US neoliberal democratic order because they snubbed him and wouldn’t let him in their club,
Huh?
He was fully in the neoliberal club…
He got the fucking Clinton’s to come to one of his weddings, neoliberals loved him because they were one of the few people he actually wrote checks too. Because he always got a return on it.
The shit about him not liking the Clinton’s is just WWF play acting.
With the bad takes again? Neoliberals will take money from anyone. Thousands of average voters donated to neoliberal causes over decades. Were they ever in the club?
One of the few good things the neoliberals ever did, was to say no to Trump when he demanded power. The fact that Obama ridiculed him, whatever you think of Obama. Should tell you how IN he was. It’s not like everyone by that point didn’t know he was a petulant manchild. They snubbed him. Figuratively and literally. Its why he ran in 2015 against them. Petty bitterness, like all his lawsuits. He just never thought he would win.
the WWF connection is real. Trump has been a close ally of the McMahon family for decades and he was breifly involved with the show directley a couple of times . The way he runs conferences, talks to people, etc, is very similar to how things get scripted on the WWF/WWE
Yeah, but an “uppity n-word” made fun of him once.
Yeah, he’s always been mocked and derided since at least the 80s. The local press knew who and what he was for sure. Magazines like Spy mocked him all the time.
I’m sure with his fragile snowflake ego that he has never felt fully accepted by the typical elites, especially old money. Maybe creepy pedo weirdo elites like Epstein and the freak(s) he ran his beauty pageants with at least tolerated having him around.
The guy has always come off as thirsty AF for approval by things like Hollywood and so on, too…
It’s always been the sycophants who are worse. Slowly, deliberately, and methodically, America has been driven half-crazy stupid by extreme right wing xenophobia and ignorance. Reactionary ideology has fully engulfed the rotten brains of America’s least introspective imbeciles. Trump is the mirror of their desperate desire to be heard, to be catered to, to be rescued from every perceived threat, real or imagined.
We can shatter the mirror, but the monsters live among us.
I could see someone with mushbrain blurting something like that out in the moment. But imagine being such a dumbass as to set that down, in writing?

These days this could be any day. No need for a date.
Is been mostly an embarrassing decade
I dunno, I was pretty embarrassed by Dubya, as well, so it feels like its been almost a solid two and a half decades of embarrassment.
Dubya and his middle east clusterfuck is when other nations started questioning US stability and relations but was considered an anomaly.
Trump turned the anomaly into a certainty.
What about non dubya. What about Reagan. Ford? Nixon… Its been a roughly embarrassing century. Longer actually. But at least a century.
I mean, I don’t disagree, but Reagan and Ford didn’t necessarily make Europe especially distrustful of the USA. Reagan made South America distrustful of the USA, but the USA weren’t specifically allied with many South American nations other than through imperial dominance anyway.
The USA was mostly considered stable and relatively trustworthy, even with Reagan in charge. Dubya was when Europe really started questioning US long-term stability and trustworthiness as an economic partner and NATO partner.
Being European and old enough to remember, I’d say Reagan was not exactly popular in Europe. His “In five minutes we’ll start bombing” joke -in Berlin of all places in the world- didn’t go down very well in West Germany which used to be far on the pro-American side.
It’s a very narrow distinction, but I’ll give you that. Though it was Reagan that sold arms to the middle east and Iran. Perhaps they didn’t think the US would fall under him. But they certainly knew he wasn’t a dependable or upstanding person.
Trump is very mask off in a way that many of those sociopath’s weren’t. Mostly because he’s incapable of masking.

Oh how I wish it was.
I had to check the date because this has been true for over a year now
His legacy will be that of the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to America. No joke- This “man” will die being remembered as a cowardly little moron that threw temper tantrums when he didn’t get what he never deserved in the first place.
20 years ago, many of us thought George W. Bush’s legacy would be that he was the most embarrassing president to ever happen to America…
Never forget that Trump is the most embarrassing president that we’ve ever had yet…
And prior to that, we had Ronnie Raygun. W was embarrassing on a lot of levels, but Ronnie Raygun had the most criminal administration in history (at least so far) and the things they did set us on the path we are still on…
I would say the two situations are slightly different.
Watching Futurama and hearing them say that Nixon was the worst president in history AND alternate history is hard to watch now. The writers get a lot of things right, but Trump completely breaks that joke in a heartbreaking way.
My guess is that it had something to do with the age of the writers? Nixon really broke the mold, I guess.
A lot of things happened in the 60s and 70s that broke a lot of cherished myths of post-war America. Seeing JFK and RFK getting assassinated. MLK getting assassinated. Pentagon Papers. An incredibly painful economy. Oil embargoes. Then Nixon and Watergate…then the Church Committee. I’m assuming if they were to do a word association, they’d probably associate Nixon with all or most of this stuff. It definitely made an impression on the boomer mindset.
But Ronnie Raygun was far worse than Nixon. I think at that point, the boomers (and their parents) were just sick of all the bad news and conservative corruption and mostly tuned it out. The media mostly turned away entirely from the Iran/Contra affair.
And of course Bush Senior and W were not exactly great.
And now there’s Taco…
I mean Trump, W, Raygun, Nixon…
Everyone says “caretaker president” perjoratively, but I’m starting to wonder if the presidents who do the least are the best.
Bush the I went to war for oil. No “WMD” bullshit cover story even. Just “we need that oil for profits, go send your children to die”. I stupidly thought that would wake people up.
Ai yi yi.
Well, if they weren’t going to wake up after Iran/Contra…or the allegations that Ronnie Raygun worked to purposefully fuck up the release of the Iran hostages [1] so that he could do it during his Inauguration…but no.
They elected Bush Senior into office even though he was VP in the most criminal administration in history. I guess people could tell themselves that he somehow knew nothing about all the crimes, but…
[1] https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a43368900/reagan-iran-hostages/
Bush is a Rhodes scholar in comparison to the fart-weasel we have currently.
It’s bad when bush seems like a sane choice over this nazi pedophile
The irony is that he was the President that followed an incredibly accomplished, intelligent, and thoughtful man. I disagreed with Obama on a lot, from policy to style, but there was no doubt that he had great charisma and intelligence. To be followed by that shit show TWICE must hurt.
Absolutely. Obama is a diplomat. And well learned. It’s like following a TED talk with The Three Stooges.
It’s also the legacy of all the Congress members and Senators for not impeaching him or invoking the 25th Amendment
Impeachment has to start in committee, it isn’t just a bunch of them chanting.
Not that I disagree with the fundamental premise, just - y’know, you can’t vote for something that doesn’t exist. Kind of like a viable third party.
Do dumbasses like Miller and Taco even hear themselves when they make these arguments about boats landing on a country?
Miller is a vicious little shit who has what fantasy authors would call “low cunning”. He knows very well that he will never be as influential as he is right now, and that his influence will likely die with Trump. So he’s speed running all his stuff.
Presumably, yes. The only thing Taco hears is himself.
Just put him down already

Not buying US debt is a long term strategy, not a short term punishment.
Trump only has to keep up the interest payments by selling bonds domestically.
Americans, if you’re listening…
I think most people don’t want to throw their life away killing a guy that already has one foot in the grave.
We could probably just send him a dozen hamburgers and he’d finally have that heart attack we’ve been waiting for.
I don’t think I’ve ever rooted for high cholesterol before, but these are strange times.
High cholesterol, a blood clot, a stroke, an ugly fall, a heart attack… I’m rooting for so many fatal conditions right now.
Evil seems to do wonders for the life span. Even Death doesn’t want to go near him.
Ohhhh, Death. Would you grow some fucking balls?
Look at how long fucking Kissinger lived.
Dude should have been munchausened.
The immorality of killing someone besides, and making him a martyr to his supporters that would make them more dangerous, there is a legal process to remove a president.
We think that this administration is driven by Trump, but once removed, the people who are behind much of his policies are still there. Venezuela is comparable at the moment. It is still controlled by Maduro’s administration.
The world needs to treat America as a pariah despite the economic pain. It needs to find a way to thrive without it.
America needs a revolution that demands reform in all three branches as well as the voting process. Our leaders and judges, given their privilege of power, should be subject ti term limits. First past the post should be replaced by a comprehensive voting process such as ranked choice.
People keep using the word martyr, but I’m not sure he can become that. There’s no ideology bringing these people together, the disruption that he’s causing is the unifying force.
If he’s gone, there’s no clear contender to continue that disruption, so there would be tons of infighting. I don’t think there’s a path to dominance from that kind of chaos. Trump only managed to get elected with the support of broken systems, which are being dismantled.
There’s no ideology bringing these people together
Agreed, but there’s something that’s like an ideology. They don’t know what it is, but it comes in a red ball cap and waves a lot of flags. Usually from a giant truck. Whatever those things are are the “ideology”. And his murder would definitely calcify a lot of that.
I mean, it’s a cult. Plain and simple. What happens when a cult leader is killed? Besides the inevitable factional war?
Disruption is the thing that’s like ideology in this instance. There’s no path for a cult member to disrupt things enough to become the new cult leader. There’s the chain of succession or whatever it’s called, and that relies on the legitimacy of the system to be used. If that legitimacy is disrupted, the only people that can take the lead position will be the people controlling the military, which will be nobody in governance because the commander in chief will be dead.
This is one reason I guess the ICE budget is getting juice, so that when that change in leadership comes there is some force behind the change.
It’s really not that hard to create a highly contagious flu with a 50% IFR. Just do the initial release around people likely to interact with the inner circle and you’d wipe most of the old ones out. Plus once it got out you’d be eliminating anti-science people at a 5 or 10:1 ratio, improving the future prospects for the planet as a whole. Some really angry molecular biologist who got fired by RFK Jr. could do it for $50k in a limited space.
I think most people don’t want to throw their life away killing a guy that already has one foot in the grave.
I 100% think you are right about this. I don’t think most people want look inwards and acknowledge this fear.
It’s not just one guy though… I bet the German people thought the same in the 1930’s, and look how many people died because of their reluctance to being more active against the nazis.
The real evil behind the throne is 40 years old.
*throne*
And yes, but he’s got the charisma of a week old sandwich left on top of the trash bin.
Is there a word for typoing a different homophone even though you knew damn well which one was correct?
Anyway, my point was, waiting for him to die of old age is not a solution. Positive action must be taken to get rid of him.
Is there a word for typoing a different homophone even though you knew damn well which one was correct?
We need to go rustle up a German. I’m sure they have one.
That fat cunt could eat 12 of those in twenty minutes without sweating much more than the pig usually does. Fucks sake, put him out of everyone’s misery.
I guarantee you the majority of people who need to be “listening” are very specifically not listening. They are pretending everything’s fine, and they’ll keep doing that until it’s time to vote republican again in November. They will likely not see this story.
This idiot still has a 40% approval rating here. Europe you gotta apply more economic pain to us, I already see headlines about how leaders are leaning toward negotiating. Fuck that, bazooka us in the face already!
I feel like crazy, because signs of his dementia have been clearly obvious for several years now. Why is anyone surprised by this nonsensical letter?
He is not “running” the country, his cronies are. They let him pop off with stupid shit like this because his handlers have learned that if they don’t let him do shit like this while their machinations are carried out in the background, he turns on them and they get kicked out of his cult. So they loot and pillage the country while their cult leader goes off on his tangents and pursues his weird/ridiculous/frightening vendettas. M
No, he is running the US, and he does whatever his cronies tell him, mixed with this dimentia riddled shit.
Writing to Norway the he wants Greenland is probably the point where he should be medically removed from office.
I meant running in the sense he’s actually governing, which he isn’t. He’s a dictator that’s terrorizing his own citizens while everything in the country is crumbling. What little governing IS actually occurring, is being done by his cronies that are implementing their own agendas, e.g. that idiotic tax break bill they created last year.
I feel like crazy
Well, yeah. Which is one of the reasons people railing against Harris were so fucking stupid. Of course it’s insane chaos. We already knew this. We’ve already done this. How anyone could sit on their high horse and think “well I guess we have to go through insane chaos to teach the Democrats a lesson” is beyond me. Unless they’re not actual US voters. Which, imo, many of them are not.
