    Unfortunately not. The word for this is “dictatorship.” There are and have been plenty of those that aren’t failed states. Democracy is a historical anomaly, not the norm. The failed state part is coming, but we’re not there yet.

      For me a failed state is when the government doesn’t follow its own laws or there is no penalty for breaking the law. Once rule of law is gone society and the nation have failed. It doesn’t matter if it’s democracy or any other form of government. If it’s not following its own rules the anarchy is in charge, not the nation’s traditions.

    Typical double-speak attacking a strawman position.

    Nobody is claiming that Federal officers don’t have immunity to perform their legal obligations and duties.

    The complaint is that they’re doing things that are not within their legal obligations and duties like trying enforce traffic laws and shooting people in the head.

    Or raiding an entire apartment building full of homes without a single warrant.

    Or throwing a flashbang into a car full of children and a 6-month old infant.

    Or shooting people in the face with grenade launchers leading to the loss of their eye.

    Or arresting people for being brown, or for not showing papers (which is so fascist that it is a meme).

    Or fabricating ‘assault on a federal officer’ charges (which will result in years in prison, everyone should remember this) by invading personal space and treating any brushing contact as if it were a thrown punch.

    Federal Officers are allow to perform their duty, they are not given completely immunity by virtue of their jobs nor are they given immunity to brutalize people who hurt their feelings or throw baloney on their cars.

    If protesting and obstructing ICE peacefully, within your rights and with civility, is going to have the same consequences as an attempt on their life, well… Maybe they’ll find out that they can’t play the fear card forever. Fascism usually features some carrots to keep the population tolerating it, and this administration seems sorely lacking.

        That seems to be a subject of debate but the Supreme Court has ruled in the past that the bill of rights applies to anyone in the US, not just citizens.

            Oh of course. The current SCOTUS has shown they are happy to be a tool for fascism, that’s the only reason they are taking cases that have been considered “settled law” for decades.
