Just got bazzite going on my gaming laptop as of yesterday! Surprisingly easy, so far works great.
Bazzite has been a fantastic daily driver for me for a while now.
Installed to possibly replace my Ubuntu install for gaming. HDMI audio doesn’t seem to work, which is a deal breaker for me currently :/
No issue here, even auto selected it since I have no aux cable connected
Something to note is that Linux in English Steam installations is at almost 8%.
95% to go
I’d be satisfied with +47%
Or a three-way tie, but another player would have to enter the field, as Apple clearly isn’t interested.I’ll be excited if Linux hits 20% total market share, which is about where Apple sits last time I checked. That would put Linux squarely as a contender for normies.
BSD, perhaps. Or maybe Redox eventually.
I would too.
I’d like to see windows shrivel up and die though.

Just picked up a steam deck because I was worried prices might spike soon due to RAM shortages, saying I am amazed by it feels like an understatement.
First tech device I’ve ever bought where I didn’t feel some amount of buyer’s remorse. There’s nothing I dislike about it, and I can even install my own distro on it, if I so desire. Because of the form factor, I’ve even been able to tackle my backlog!
I don’t use mine nearly enough :/
Maybe I’m in the honeymoon phase but I can’t put it down, I love my gaming pc but the deck just keeps impressing me. I also fly a ton, and had been using a Switch, which I have now replaced with the deck.
I got an MSI Claw instead of the Steam Deck and I adore it, but the best decision I made was to get a USB-C docking station like the one in the photo. It turns it into a full desktop PC.

Even better is that eventually you can connect an eGPU to that dock to a massive boost when you’re at the desk. The Claw has replaced my desktop and laptop.
I’m doing my part
The Steam Deck’s AMD Custom GPU 0405 also saw a sharp dip in this revision going from 21.41% now to 13.37%.
I would have thought the Linux share would be mostly made up of steam decks, but seems that’s not the case!
I don’t own a Steam Deck (yet) but I retested nearly all of my library on Debian this year, and everything runs well enough now so I stopped dual booting.
I remember trying on Arch (Artix) 6 years ago and nearly everything was a pain… now only issue is anti-cheat, and I’m not married to Dragon Ball FighterZ online, so it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
I sincerely mean this: thank you for your sacrifice. I wish there were more people like you who were willing to make the sacrifices necessary to stick it to the big corpos.
Add one more from me. Tossed SteamOS onto my Legion Go over the weekend and good God is it better at running literally every game better than Windows.
I’ve been playing space Marine 2 on my steam deck.
It’s… Not great but playable.
But having the convenience to sit with my son on the couch while he watches endless hours of Vlad and Nickie on YouTube is nice.
