The comments about this cup are funny in how pedantic they, given the point of the cup to me is the spirit of it. It is not surprising to see the science positive crowd be so analytic about it though, and actually slightly reassuring.

It does care where you’re looking though
Bruh my grandma gave me this mug like 10 years ago. The same one that believes high schools were installing litter boxes for students.
Eugh.
I mean, it’s not wrong, but this has the energy of a Facebook meme for people who make atheism their entire personality.
If I saw someone with this mug I would probably avoid them.
Yeah stuff like this is cringe.
Science isn’t a culture or a belief system, nor is it a substitute for those things. Science isn’t an aesthetic or a political or group ideology.
Science isn’t a culture or a belief system
The mug doesn’t claim anything you wrote, either (or give a fuck 😄).
YOU don’t give a fuck what people believe. You. Science has nothing to do with it. Science isn’t a person, it doesn’t have the capacity for indifference. Science is a method, a process, a set of tools. Science isn’t a gotcha to your political or ideological opponents. If you want to say that you don’t care what people believe, fine (that’s still cringe) but leave science out of it.
A lot of religions don’t even make scientific claims.
Ok. And?
What about political science? Psychology?
those are “soft science” and science doesn’t give a fuck what they think either. see neil degrasse tyson’s dismissal of philosophy as “useless”
if it can’t be quantified or described by some math formula, then it isn’t “science”
what is the math formula for your endocrine system?
there are many unsolved math problems; that doesn’t mean a solution doesn’t exist
however you can’t objectively quantify a thing that is by definition a subjective experience, i.e. consciousness. can the endocrine system feasibly eventually be described by maths alone? i tend to believe so. not so much with predicting someone’s favorite flavor of ice cream, or favorite music, or favorite hobby, or anything else involving feelings and emotions
I mean, WE can’t, not yet at least.
I’m really glad people decided thousands of years ago that this wasn’t true and we continue their tradition to this day of knowing its not true! 🤣
