By suppressing one word and promoting others, the BBC isn’t avoiding bias. It’s curating which reality sounds most acceptable.

“Captured”, “apprehended” - same shit they use for drug dealer stories.

Captured maybe. Apprehended has the assumption of legal right of capture for justice, and while he is being tried right now, is it the US’s jurisdiction to do so? I don’t think people would be so upset about how it was done if there are legal justifications.

I’d totally agree if the reason was that it was clearly a war crime. Alas, it’s just their higher ups are cool with this whole farce.

You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: [email protected]

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What’s the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.
