Because he’s using what strength we have now to take what we can for a few to benefit from it regardless of long term impact. Long term, we need to work together and have alliances and partners, but short term, some people can make a shit load of wealth if they can get us to fuck everyone else over.
Because in his view, and the view of conservatives generally, fear == respect.
