Isn’t it ironic?
No,
SherylAlanis - it’s not.Sheryl? Do you mean Alanis?
Probably. I was never into either one, and aging brain cells aren’t helping matters. Thanks for the correction.
I started with Instagram. Every experience went like this: I’d see a single post from one of the rare family members or IRL friends who are active on the platform
I don’t really understand why people think Instagram is just for seeing friends and family. That’s not really why it was created at all!
Fair enough, though they also show very little of the content I’m subscribed to there as well. Sure it’s nice to discover things occasionally but it’s mostly ads and trash with relevant stuff peppered about.
I think it depends on how often you visit or refresh as well.
I went to Instagram thirty minutes ago and 18/20 items were things I follow. Only two were any kind of ad. I counted because I’m genuinely curious. That’s 90% stuff I have intentionally followed.
Then, to repeat the experiment I refreshed. ~24/30 were things I wanted to see.
The more I refreshed, the more ads showed up. This last time was 18/30 were things I have followed, or 60%.
Which kind of puts a spotlight on how people might use this type of app.
Seriously, it was created to provide advertisers an opportunity to feed you ads discussed as OC.
