Grappling hook made the play great. Rail gun InstaGib. Touch of low grav. I miss UT times.
Low gravity instagib on this map was basically the only time I was good enough at a videogame that people were regularly accusing me of cheating
I used to load this map up with low grav and bots and sit in the tower with sniper rifle blowing off steam and heads, so many good memories.
I was a big fan of the rocket launcher you could fly around
The Redeemer! M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!
That was fun.
Also othe other space map with low grav and instaGib.
I loved Q3CTF4 / SpaceCTF. Kinda sad that arena shooters mostly died out in favor of hero shooters with special abilities and stuff.
The only map where you can camp the enemy spawn point with a sniper rifle, from inside your own base.
Facing Worlds has to be one of the most defense-favored maps in CTF history.
So difficult to to breach into the enemy’s fort, only a couple paths home, no cover, high prevalence of snipers.
In order to score, your team had to have full map control.
That also sounds like 2fort!
I played both a lot. Sniper battles in both were so incredibly fun.
iconic is reasonable. blew me away in 99 and I put some time in the others as well. 2004 mainly with all those sweet sweet mods.
Not real convinced an individual map can be “notable” enough to justify its own Wikipedia article, but at least there’s also one for 2fort so I guess I won’t complain too much.
There’s also one for Blood Gulch, so all is still right in the world.
Depends on how influential a stage is for the game. I could see Final Destination getting an article with how it spawned a lot of hardcore competitive Smash play.
Good old times…

Foregone Destruction is just a really chill track to listen to.
