Good as new 🙂
Wait…no before/after pics??? How are we supposed to comment that’s one fine clean job???
hmm 🤔 too late for before pics.
but it was all black and moldy, could barely see the white anymore.
Tip for quickly defrosting for anyone who wants to do this: get a few pans of water to the boil. Take everything out of your freezer. Turn it off, put the boiling pans of water in on top of some old towels (I stress: with pan! Don’t pour it!). Close the freezer and wait 10-15 minutes. The hot steam will quickly defrost your freezer, faster than your stuff will thaw. Fit as many pans as you can, don’t let the hot steam out, and repeat if the water cools but there’s still ice. It’s fast but messy. Use plenty of old towels!
I would suggest not doing this if you have glass shelving in your freezer. You’d probably only want to do this with a thick plastic that won’t shatter from thermal shock of putting the hot pot/pan on some towels.
Good point. I have glass shelves but I take them out when I do this .
what about taking out the glass shelves, filling up one of those five gallon jugs with boiling water, then putting that in there? (i assume we’re talking a chest or walk-in)
Posts that make you think “Hell yeah.”
How to you clean the seals? Serious question.
Mixed a thick paste of stuff i thought might work: baking powder, a bit of oxy-action(?) washing-powder, dish-soap, isopropyl alcohol & water.
I then applied it with an old toothbrush and let it sit for 5 mins before wiping it off.
Not sure which of those ingredients did the trick 🤷🏼♂️
Honestly that sounds like a good all-purpose paste.
Use it as a roux!
Love this. Thank you!
On a lot of them you can detach them and just wash them in the sink with dish detergent. Dry them off real good and pop them back on. Just be really careful not to rip it, usually expensive to replace too.
how did it taste?
Nice work! :)
Dammit. I KNEW there was something I was supposed to do this week…
I have never had to defrost a freezer. Doesn’t that mean that something is wrong with the freezer?
Thats awesome! Don’t forget to clean the condenser coils and fins. Lol I did the coils, but, not, the seals yet on mine. Had to pull the fridge out to clean broken glass. I saw your cleaning solution in the comments, I’m going to have to borrow that.
Cool
its fewer syllables to say thawed
Tis the season…
I’ve been thinking I should do that.
I didn’t think they even made non-frost-free freezers anymore. Am I wrong or is this just an old reliable freezer?
I have a mini fridge that frosts up and needs to be defrosted occasionally.
The one at my work is 11 years old and doesn’t get frost, but it does get sheets of ice on the bottom. The one at my house is 3 years old and gets no frost or ice sheets.
I cleaned the gutters on my rental duplex because every time it rained, the rain would just splash off the roof.
