Who on earth thinks EU chat control is sweet? Are they in the room with us?

Probably just CCP propaganda to “clean” China’s image. Theirs goes beyond stopping children from seeing inappropriate material; it’s stopping citizens from knowing certain thruths the CCP doesn’t want them to know.

stopping citizens from knowing certain thruths

Will it be used any different in Europe in the years to come?

Hopefully yes, but unlikely. It’s a class war, and only the rich understand class solidarity. They’ll approve more stringent privacy-invading (only for the poor and middle class) measures to keep workers under the thumb.

Hasn’t the UK already used theirs to stop videos of police brutality because it contains violence?

    The fuck this on about?

In the EU there are some politicians trying to get it through but getting met with enormous resistance.

In China, it already is implemented a long time ago.

Neither is fine, but one is obviously way worse.

Nope. Resistance against chat control is still going strong in Europe. It doesn’t matter whether China or EU, chat control is not seen as a good thing by the general public. A necessary evil at worst.

Proposals like that should have a mandatory multi-year cooldown period. Everytime Chat Control is stopped, some asshat politician chages a few minor details and tries it again.

The European Union, commonly known as the EU, is a partnership of ‘democratic’ countries that work together for shared political and economic benefit. All member states are bound by treaties that set out the rules and principles of how they will work together.

China, officially the People’s Republic of China, is a country in East Asia. It is not a democracy; it is a one-party state governed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which does not allow for free elections or multi-party politics.

Democracy is predicated on the Citizens that have a right to all information sources, the right to skepticism, the right to error, and the right to dissent in all nonviolent forms.

The right to information, skepticism, and to error, is the right to communicate freely, albeit directly, public commons, or press.

The right to dissent, is the right to offend when it does not cause substantive harm to others.

Calling it a Democracy, while destroying the foundations is spurious nonsense. No one will make you a slave in name: “You will own nothing, and you will be happy about it.” They redefine the word Citizen to be functionally equivalent.

Right, crazy how many people think HR is on their side. Who is pushing this, because it is getting traction everywhere, the politicians are just muppets with someone’s hand up their backside making them dance. I say if they want it that bad let’s do a trial, all politicians must do 5 years with it first then we’ll see if they really think it’s needed. But alas they’re going to push it through and give themselves a pass.

Something’s gotta give I can’t believe how many people want 1984 to be the way of life.
