Buffalo's Josh Allen scored on an 8-yard run against the Steelers on Sunday to set the NFL's all-time record for regular-season rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (76).
So when Beane drafted Josh Allen he didn’t think he was drafting a running QB. And nobody thought Allen would be a running QB.
But he was certainly thinking of Cam Newton. Because Beane was an assistant GM with Carolina Panthers when Panthers drafted Newton. I suppose there were some parallels. Cam was also a pretty raw passer when he was drafted. And got better in the league. Josh had exceeded Cam in that aspect. Josh Allen makes up for Beane’s drafting failures elsewhere.
