        l come from a farmers family in Germany.

      Interesting, the super low crawling gear is called “granny gear” here in the states, so both fit!

        I’ve seen some trucks in the US that had an L for low gear. I had a 3500 that had the normal manual shifter but also had another shifter at the base which would put you into Low mode for all those gears including R. It was VERY low, like the truck barely moved but it had all the torque you’d need to pull something.

        I’ve always heard it as turtle gear, mostly since lots of farm equipment has a turtle and rabbit as slow/fast.

      G-Wagon is short for “Geländewagen” which just means “offroad vehicle” in English.
