“Need help! Drone attack!” — the second tanker of the Russian “oil fleet” is burning in the Black Sea
The tanker from Russia’s shadow fleet, Virat, which was heading towards Turkey, was attacked by drones - the Turkish TV channel Haber publishes an alleged recording of the Virat crew’s call for help – the sailors reported the attack.
Z-bloggers write that the vessel could have been attacked by 5 unmanned boats about 35 nautical miles from the shore in the Black Sea.
As a result of the hit, the engine room was damaged. The Turkish Maritime Administration reported that the condition of the 19 crew members is normal, but smoke is observed in the engine room. The cause of the fire was not named there.
Reuters previously reported about the damage to this tanker as well as the vessel Kairos. Both tankers are part of the Russian shadow fleet and are under Western sanctions.
