In the last elections there were several candidates and parties that ran under a socialist or a communist party.

One can’t rise to power without the other. Liberals shifting to the right and ratcheting that position in to prevent it from slipping back is what’s created the current worldwide political situation.

Non voters and socialists didn’t put trump in power, Democrats refusing to acknowledge their part in helping their party shift to the right and never holding them accountable did that. Democrats openly embraced right wing war criminals, zionists, and blowing Republicans dog whistles regarding guns did that

You may dislike it, but the electorate clearly wanted to support Israel, and not regulate guns. The Democrats strategized to maximize the chance of winning by sounding more right wing. They are still quite a bit further to the left that the gop, and not nearly as bat shit crazy. The choice was clear. If you chose not to effectively vote against trump, you voted for him. If you think that’s a long term benifit, so be it. But don’t complain - you got what you voted for.

Policy wise they are barely left of Republicans and if we overlaid today’s political scale and that from 1980, Democrats would be to the far right of Reagan.
