I wouldn’t expect ferries to be so high compared to the other public transit options, do people go overboard that often, or is it if one sinks its a lot of deaths?
My best guess is that this is global data and there were some shoddy ferries and high profile ferry losses that resulted in many deaths. I’m in an area with a big ferry system and we have functionally 0 deaths due to the ferry system over a long period of time.
