It also seems like it’d basically be a green house in the summer. It’d be cool to fall asleep to the stars every night and have easy access to a rooftop view of the city through.

Had a single skylight in my room as a kid.

It had a screen so it could be open in the summer which helped a lot, but sleeping up in the loft was still to hot much of the year and too cold in the winter (though my house was heated by a single wood stove 2.5 stories down at the time and never had AC).

My mom, grandma and I ended up sowing insulated blackout curtains with Mylar/thermal blanket layered in the middle ran on sliders and had magnetic tape strips at the bottom to seal it closed.

That did the trick but then it was like sleeping in a cave. I hated getting up for school in the mornings.

This was me every day I worked in an office. I kind of enjoyed it though. I’d come home off the train and lay in bed for 10 min to an hour just decompressing. In the summer I’d go for a walk after. I miss feeling like I earned that nothingness time.
