    my mom had great ways.

    instead of telling me what to do, she’d - ask - if I could do it for her.

    “can you help me by cutting the grass?”

    worked like a charm; soothed my hate of taking orders, fulfills helping mother unit, distracts from other issues.

      My mum used to do this, but I wised up to it and she changed tactics. Now as an adult man, she says “Help me cut the grass. Make the time. Don’t be a pussy.”

      Triggers me into reminding myself I’m not a kid. Goddammit
