Explanation: In 1846, the Mexican-American War started. While, very arguably, the annexation of Texas was legitimate, the US quickly expanded the war outside of the claims of the former Republic of Texas to claim a great deal of Mexican land to the west of Texan borders.
This was considered by the great American general and president Ulysses S. Grant, who was a veteran of the war, to be one of the most unjust modern wars ever waged, a naked land grab by a militarily stronger polity against a weaker one.
After Mexican Cession, America was still hungry and had to go back for seconds in 1854.
Lets not forget Saint Patrick’s Battalion.
Didn’t know the full story on this, I say texas should give it back. Also while we are at it, give back a shit ton of land to the Native Americans.
We’ll gladly take the natives with open arms, but you can throw Texas into the Gulf of America.
