Will this current ‘generation’ of prosperity pastors be the last? Surely the next kids/young adults see through their lies, so they won’t follow the next set of pastors when the current pastors age out.

Surely there will be a critical turning point where the spell breaks right? Like it gets more absurd for anyone to believe what they are saying every year. These pastors may think they are getting followers now, but what happens when a devout follower discovers it was all a lie? Those pastors are going to be literally ripped limb from limb when people wake up after they are starving.
Or people will starve and give their last bit of bread and to some asshole like this and watch, smiling as they throw it away in disgust. Why would that rich person want some moldy bread from some starving dope? But they will still smile up at him. He gets them. He’s one of the common people. Just like them…

It’s much worse than that. He’s a proponent of the “prosperity gospel,” which says God directly rewards a person’s faithfulness and adherence to scripture with worldly success. So if you need help, that means you have not been a good enough Christian, so it would be against God’s will for his church to help.
It always amazes me how rich people gaslight everyone else into believing they are poor due to some kind of lack of effort or the other, but attributing it to lack of faith is straight of cruel.
So, if I am poor is not only a signal of my lack of effort but also I should feel ashamed about being a lousy devout?

Even worse, many of them do this with illness, too. Because if you’re devout enough, god will heal you. If you’re not getting better, there’s obviously something wrong with your faith.

Ah, bummer. That’s unfortunate as I actually met him (I was extremely young) and I remember him being exceptionally kind/welcoming to be around. Alas, history cares little for such memories and time must flow forward.
