Very nice 🙃
Always nice to have options.
FYI, on Windows and KDE (probably other DEs as well), you can press Super+. to open an emoji picker.
Yes it’s a bit superfluous at the moment but the next step is to add community-specific and instance-specific custom emoji in there too.
That’s a great point. Good stage setting for custom emoji and possibly a local GIF picker.
Fn E on recent Macs or Ctrl Cmd Spacebar
That’s awesome, I hope a button for creating spoilers will be added some time as well 🙏
Ok, that’s done!
oh wow! 😮
Thank you so much! You’re the 🐐
Cool!
And also interesting, as PF seems to be intercepting the common group of emojis and substituting slightly different, cleaner ones. I think I prefer them, really. For example:
--> 😅[size is an illusion]
To be honest that might be something in my browser 😅
In fact, I’ve been pulling them off the web and pasting them as needed (I’m not a huge emoji user).
Yesterday, the one on the left, when pasted here, looked the same here as from a general browser search. Today, it now looks like the one on the right(!) So I naturally assumed it was related to the new emoji functionality on PF.
You should be able to test and confirm that with any number of common emojis from the web.
You should be correct then!
I’ve given up on Piefed. I made a mistake at some point and some admin decided to ban me from practically every community I participate in. But something went wrong with the ban and my account got FUBAR. Now,even if the ban is over, I’m blocked from my communities and can’t collaborate with anyone anymore because of a bug. So I’m back on Lemmy.
Which Piefed instance was that?
I can’t help but ask, what was the “mistake” as well? :|
I don’t know if you’ve seen the video of Snoop Dogg criticizing other black artists for performing at Trump’s inauguration in the first election? He called them, and I quote, “jigaboo ass n-…”.
I used the “jigaboo” word to criticize Snoop for performing at Trump inauguration party. I thought it was a made up funny word that he had come up with. But apparently not. It has a historical racist meaning, and I wasn’t aware of that. And instead of explaining it to me, everyone blew up and an admin from lemmy.ca decided to go on a rampage and ban me from every community I ever participated on.
I’m not American and I don’t know everything about the full history of black racism in the US. (I mean, there’s so much it’s hard to keep up.) And while I’m very bilingual, I’m not a native English speaker. When I learned my mistake I went back to apologize using my lemmy account.
When the ban reached its deadline, it was never removed. I was permanently banned due to a bug. The admins tried to fix it with manual manipulations of their database, but my account was screwed. So I essentially can’t use it anymore.
I’m pretty upset about this. I don’t blame all the admins, most are pretty great people. But there’s one that went overboard and destroyed my account basically over one mistake.
Sorry to hear. Not sure if that bug gas been fixed since then. @[email protected] @[email protected]
PieFed has a feature that makes it very difficult to evade a ban. It will sometimes mean things like this happen but it’s worth it.
So in this case, the issue comes from the user above commenting with a Lemmy account after being banned on their Piefed one?
