Growing up we had a doberman named Floppy on account of his big beautiful soft floppy ears, he would get so excited his tail would smash things off tables into the floor and whip your leg with a crack. Loved that guy.

I can only wish horrible things on people who would have mutilated such a good boy.

I was at the vet the other day getting boosters for my pup and there was a Doberman in there.

        He was huge.

        Built like a horse.

He got so excited seeing my dog and was wagging his stump so hard, I was petting him and giving him doggy talk and legit said “poor boy I’m sorry they took your tail and ears” and then caught eyes with the owner … and kept petting the dog.

Exactly what I thought. And yes, their tails also get cut off.

It’s a shame, because they look just like Labs with the black and brown pattern when they’re uncropped.

We had an English springer spaniel growing up, and the people had already chopped his tail. They were talking about giving us the dog after they also did the ears and we were like “oh nooo uhhh let us take on that expense” and they gave him to us and his ears stayed floppy and soft and lovely.
