Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho both were jointly leaureated with the Nobel Peace price for achieving peace in Vietnam. Tho refused the award, both because he hated Kissinger and was grossly insulted that Kissinger would get it, but also because there was no peace in Vietnam at that point. Kissinger almost also refused the award, because he was furious that Tho might be getting it too. But, in the end, he decided he wanted one.

Kissinger did not attend the ceremony though, because by then he was widely known as a war criminal and he didn’t want to interact with people who would tell him so to his face (including members of the Nobel committee, two of which resigned when he was awarded). Tho in particular had often screamed at him in public because of the US’s various crimes and deceptions in Vietnam, which was one reason he didn’t like Tho.

      You know. Peacemakers.

That really means a lot coming from you, foundation that is named after one of the most war criminal-ee world leaders of all time.

lmao, this reads as “couldn’t get the Nobel, so I make my own prize”. Never heard of this Nixon foundation thing until now.
