While true, it’s important to remember that they did that kind of shit across the board, not just to the natives. My grandma got pregnant out of wedlock and the church shipped her off to a convent where her baby got taken from her and she got excomunicated and shunned when she returned. Her first children after that got sent to a catholic school (day school) where they were abused by the priests (my uncle) and the nuns (my mom).

I’m not bringing this up to say it’s the same thing as residential schools, just to point out that the evil wasn’t only directed at natives, it was evil all the way down. I am very sympathetic to what Generational Trauma means.
