Obligatory Sarmatians are not Samaritans mention.

The Samaritans (sah-mair-i-tan, of “Good-” fame) were a kind of sister lineage to the Judean/Israelite traditions that would go on to become Judaism, who worshipped a different mountain.

The Sarmatians (sar-may-shun, pictured here) were a steppe people who were part of the complex network of Indo-Iranian groups we lump together as “Scythian”, who were especially prominent in late antiquity leading up to the rise of Atilla.
