    IDK if this was the play. Obviously Trump shouldn’t ever get it but Señora Machado has supported lies told by Trump before and apparently has ties to Jair Bolsonaro. She’s giving strong “not anti-imperialist, just supporting a different empire vibes.” All in all, I’m left wondering, was this the best person available? We’ve had a whole movement of people working to end the Palestinian Genocide and this was the best pick?

      She has supported Trump’s bombing of the Venezuelan boats, too. She called it “courageous” and “visionary”.

      She also formed a formal alliance between her party and the Likud party. She supports Netanyahu and describes Venezuela’s struggle and Israel’s as aligned.

      And, along with Likud, she participated in the far-right Europe Patriots Summit that pushed far-right nationalism and pushing immigrants and Muslims out of Europe.

      This award will 100% be used to legitimize her and the US in the upcoming US-led coup attempts in Venezuela.

      The award is just cynical bs.

      I think what happened here is that the committee didn’t want to lose all of their credibility by giving the award to Trump, but also didn’t want to piss him off, so they gave it to one of his allies in his existing fight against Maduro.
