      Drunk, poisoned by lead and arsenic, high on cocaine and opium, and filled with post (nut?) clarity. Yeah, I’d be dead.

    The patent medicines were all full of opium , and if that wasn’t enough , you could also get ether and pure heroin in any corner drug store.

    Everyone is burning coal at home and at work too, so you’re inhaling fumes and toxic ash every day of your life. You could be a housewife and still get black lung. Also , if your chimney got blocked you’d die of carbon monoxide poisoning in the night, but luckily you could just pay a child chimney sweep a few pennies to climb up inside the flue and clean it out.
